Grain ages Pure Cane 50 Husk Rum within is very own oak barrel
Grain Bar is proud to be ageing Pure Cane 50, a new extension of the existing unaged agricole Pure Cane. With the alcohol content sitting at 50%, Pure Cane 50 is an ode to traditional full strength and full flavoured rums so popular in the Caribbean.
“We are very excited to have our own oak barrel to age Pure Cane 50 rum in Grain Bar, and of course it will be obligatory to taste test each week in anticipation for its release!” – Adam Lau, Grain Bar Supervisor.
And finally after four weeks the ageing process is complete and you can now try this one-of-a-kind, delicious rum in our signature winter cocktails!

Background of Husk Rum
Inspired by the diverse and vibrant rum culture of the Caribbean islands and a yearning for fine Australian spirits, distiller Paul Messenger, along with his wife Mandy and daughters Harriet, Edwina & Claudia, embarked on a journey to create a plantation distillery on their cattle & cane farm, nestled in the green caldera surrounding Mt Warning in Northern NSW.
Husk Distillers has adapted to small-scale cultivation, harvesting and crushing of cane to use in its own crop. Rather than distilling molasses, Husk opt to use freshly crushed sugar cane grown right at the distillery, with the harvest season being from August to November. The waste from the crushed sugar cane is used to mulch their rainforest plantations.
